Blyth Merinos principal Ron Blyth was pleased with the results of his 21st annual ram sale, which saw 89 rams sold from 113 offered for a $3000 top and $1210 average.
The sale topper went to return buyer, Paul Graham, Adjungbilly, who bought a ram with an 18.0 micron fleece, a breech wrinkle score of two, a 99.6 per cent comfort factor and a greasy fleece weight of 3.60kg.
“He was an overall beautiful ram for both meat and wool,” Mr Graham said.
“We have been buying from Blyth Merino for six years and the genetics and philosophy of Ron's breeding is very profitable for my commercial operation.
“They are easy manageable sheep with high fertility boosting our lambing average to 120 percent and they are able to handle our high rain fall environment.”
Mr Graham said Blyth genetics gave him the opportunity to shear three times every second year with the soft rolling skins giving them a 75/85 millimetre length, which meets current market specifications.
He also purchased a further eight rams to average $1789.
Second top money was paid on two occasions when Andrew and Dianne Evans, Tarcutta and Ian Campbell, Henty, both paid $2600.
Leading the volume buying, Susan Reid, Deniliquin, through Fox and Lillie Wagga, purchased 30 rams to average $980.
Elders Wagga Wagga conducted the Helmsman sale, with representative Tim McKean going through the bidding process.
