THE 94th annual Mungery Picnic Races were once again the highlight of the October long weekend with more than 2000 people gathering for both days’ racing as well as a great night of entertainment.
This year the Agfarm Mungery Picnic Cup, which is run over 1750 metres, was won by Viva Lavino, who is trained in Parkes by Sharon Jeffries.
With a prize pool of more than $4500 in cash, vouchers and products, the fashions on the field attracted entrants from far and wide.
This year’s Fancy Filly was Kate Rowlands, from Muswellbrook, while former Peak Hill girl Anna Barwick, who now lives in Walcha, was named Miss Mungery.
Liliana Birchall, from Mudgee, was the judge’s choice for the most elegant lady and Jess Faras from Scone took home the prizes for her magnificent millinery.
