A NEW buyer at the North South Border Leicester ram sale pushed prices and the clearance up at Rothesay, Young, today.
In total the Makeham family sold 31 out the 53 rams on offer, for a 60 per cent clearance and $1135 average.
Murray Walker, Cumnock Farms, Grenfell, was the new client that put together a draft of nine rams that included the sale-topper North South 70316 for $2000.
Mr Walker will join his new rams to 600 Merino and South African Meat Merinos (SAMM) based ewes, on his 800 hectare property.
North South co-principal, Simon Makeham, said the ram was a compact ram with positive fats and eye muscle depth with high lambs weaned.
“While he is not the biggest ram in the shed, he overall is so well put together,” Mr Makeham said.
The second top-priced ram was North South 70226 purchased for $1800 by Landmark Tintinara.
Gerrard and Partners, Young, conducted the sale with guest auctioneer Luke Whan, Moree, taking bids as the auctioneer.
