Poll Merino rams sold to four states at the annual Mumblebone stud sale, Wellington, for a $2453 average and $6500 top.

A $2453 average was achieved through the auction clearance of 193 of 198 Poll Merino rams at the 32nd annual Mumblebone on-property sale, Wellington, on Wednesday.

Top price of $6500 was paid in partnership by New Zealand Merino breeders, Gordon Lucas, Ninemile Poll Merino stud, Tarras, and Alistair Campbell, Earnscleugh Station, Alexandra.

Rams also sold to Western Australia, Queensland, NSW and Victoria.

Largest multi-lot buyers included Tim Fairfav, Kioma, Toobeau, Qld, who purchased 16 rams for a $3063 average and the Armstrong Family Trust, Callubri, Buddabadam, 21 rams for a $1762 average.

First-time Western Australian buyers Bill and Xavier White, Wagin, bought five rams for an average $2400.
