The New South Wales Border Leicester show and sale was held at the Dubbo Showgrounds last Tuesday.
Judge Ian Micheel was very impressed with the quality and presentation of the sheep.
“The champion ram (from Avoca Border Leicesters) was a good overall sheep,” he said.
“His length and shape of his body, his top line handles well and has a reasonable fleece of wool on him, a good balanced sheep.”
The sale saw a top price of $4000 for a Nundoone ram, who was sold to an undisclosed purchaser while two rams will find themselves at the South Australian property of Mike King, Bordertown.
Mr King attended the sale as a good opportunity to get some quality rams.
“I was looking for a thicker type ram with a good wool type,” he said.
“I had marked out three rams, I got two of them and was the underbidder on the third.”
The sale was conducted by Elders Dubbo with Paul Jameson auctioneer.
