Well, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has really laid down the challenge to banana bread makers with her gift to the Woodley family at Wongarbon during the Royals visit.
Elaine Woodley, Mountain View Farm, said the Duchess’s bread tasted great and had the unusual addition of some choc chips – maybe a style that US-bred Meghan likes to go with.
“I was amazed when she gave it to me as we walked out from the house. She told me they had a few leftover bananas so she put it together at Admiralty House the night before coming out to Dubbo.
“She said it was a tradition to bring a plate when she was visiting a family.”
The Duchess’s cake took pride of place on the table of food supplied by Wongarbon’s Country Women’s Association.
But the cake didn’t last long. Elaine Woodley was lucky to get one of the last few pieces. The Royals also brought some Royal Blend Fortnum and Mason tea for the Mountain View visit.
The Land wonders if anyone can offer another great banana bread recipe to challenge the Duchess?
