Yarding just over 6000 sheep at Jerilderie by Elders, vendors saw values firm on recent sales due to repeat buyers appreciating the quality of the sheep on offer.
Elders Jerilderie manager, Nick Gray noted the presence of many southern buyers which created demand for the sheep which were described as being in strong forward condition.
“It was a terrific sale,” he said.
“The quality of the sheep on offer were very good under trying seasonal conditions, and they sold to very solid demand.”
Local woolgrower, George Simpson, Yooroobla, Jerilderie offered his annual draft of surplus and five year old Merino ewes, along with his autumn drop and unshorn wether lambs which sold for $70 to a Coleambally-based producer.
Mr Simpson was very pleased with a repeat buyer from Albury purchasing the ewes he had offered.

The same buyer also bought the pen of 366 June/July 2013-drop ewes for $166.
“They like the skin … not too thick, not too thin,” he said.
“This sale suits me as I am in the middle of shearing when the main Jerilderie spring sale is on.”
