STEERS made to $815, heifers to $690 and cows with calves to $1300 in a 730 head yarding at the Dunedoo store cattle sale last Thursday.
Milling Stuart agent Andrew Charlton said the sale was firm, but did attract some lines of good quality bred stock which were showing the effects of the current dry conditions.
Buyers attending from the Hunter Valley competed with a strong contingent of local restockers.
A dozen Angus yearling steers from Rowan Perry, Merrygoen, topped the steer section at $815, while the section averaged $550 a head.
Heifers sold to a top of $690 with a pen of Angus, while Hereford weaner heifers from Dalkeith Old, Cassilis, sold at $500 a head.
Second-calver Charolais-cross cows with calves from Don Lincoln, Tucklan, topped the sale at $1300 a unit.
There was also a good run of Euro-cross cows with calves of one to two months from Corella Pastoral Company, Coolah, selling from $950 to $1000 a unit.
