Derby Day at the Dubbo Turf Club was the place to be with close to 4000 patrons attending the annual race meeting.
Local trainer Karen Lunn could not stop smiling after her horse El Rey Dorado won the Royal Indian Restobar Maiden Plate over 1400m.
A stable favourite, the five-year-old chestnut gelding not only won his first race he also gave his owner and trainer Karen her first TAB winner.
With the final heat in The Country NSW Grand Final Fashions Series taking place there was much interest in the Derby Day fashions.
Jessica Faras from Scone secured her spot in the finale, which will be held at the Dubbo Turf Club on Melbourne Cup day when she was named the day’s overall winner.
Runner-up, Janette Booth from Cobar was once again a standout entrant in the fashions in the field while Scott Robinson also from Cobar was named the best dressed gent.
