MERINO ewes sold to a top $171 at the West Wyalong Livestock Agent’s Feature lamb and Store sheep sale on Wednesday.
Quade Moncrieff Livestock and Property agent Paul Quade said most of the young Merino ewes sold from $140 to $160 a head, while most of the lighter and older ewes sold from $70 to $170.
Merino wether lambs sold from $32 to $114 a head.
All up, 15,200 head were offered to a field of buyers that attended from east, west and south of West Wyalong.
“There was not as much interest from the north, however there as strong buyer support from Victoria and southern NSW,” Mr Quade said.
The Coprice sponsored best presented pen of ewes were offered by Mt Mulga Pastoral Company, West Wyalong, and sold for $171 to Allan Erwin, Ungarie. The pen of 375 July/August 2014 Merino ewes were Laurel Park blood, April shorn and not station mated.
Jamie and Diana Pilon, ”Narriah” Weethalle, were awarded the best presented pen of lambs for a line of 280 Dohne wethers, May/June 2018 Narriah blood and unshorn. The pen sold for $114 a head.
Other notable sales included Rob and Emma Ford from “Fairfield”, Barmedman, who sold 550 Merino wether lambs, May/July 2018, One Oak blood and unshorn for $78 a head to Alosis Ag, Hillston, and the Hardie Partnership, “Rugby”, Tallimba, which sold 230 unshorn Merino wethers, July/August 2018 drop, One Oak blood, for $80.
Gary and Veronica Koop, “Hayfield”, Girral, sold 140 unshorn, Prime SAMM, second-cross mixed sex lambs, June/July 2018 drop for $93 to Tony Condon, Griffith.
Mt Mulga Pastoral Company, West Wyalong, sold a big line of 970 July/August 2018, Laurel Park-blood, Merino wethers for $46 to Damien Gaynor, Ariah Park.
In the crossbred lambs section of the sale, Peter and Pat Wood, “Roloma”, North Yalgogrin sold Border Leicester/Merino, May/June 2018-drop ewe lambs for $150 to the Barnhill family, Griffith.
Brian and Ruth Wright, “Glendee”, West Wyalong, sold Merino/White Suffolk, April/May 2018-drop, October-shorn, mixed-sex lambs for $116 to the Power family from Griffith, while Brad and Tracey Lees, “Oakvale”, West Wyalong, sold Merino/Border Leicester April/May 2018-drop, September-shorn wether lambs for $102 to Karl Tulloch “Argyle”, West Wyalong.
Paul McDonell, “Sunrise”, Tallimba, sold Merino wether lambs, Winyar blood, March/April 2018 drop and October shorn to Sid Wade, Rankins Springs, for $92 a head.
Lyn Allison, “Greendale”, West Wyalong, sold June/July 2017 Merino ewes, Woodpark Poll blood, October shorn and not station mated for $143 and another line of same description ewes, but 2016-drop for $152 a head.
Rod and Meg Hardie, “Currawong” Tallimba, sold July/August 2014 Merino ewes, One Oak and Mt Wallandry blood, NSM and October shorn to the Pike family from Leeton for $140.
Terry Foster, “Eden Grove” West Wyalong, sold April/May 2017 Merino wethers, Richmond blood and September shorn for $90, while Col and Jan Cattle, “Brogla”, West Wyalong, sold April/May 2017 Merino wethers with Kia-Warra and October shorn for $70.
