Hold onto your hats, music fans – American superstar Tim McGraw will headline the 2019 Deni Ute Muster.

One of country music’s most iconic artists will take the stage at one of Australia’s most iconic festivals on the NSW Labour Day long weekend as the two-day Riverina festival hits a massive milestone.

The stellar announcement, made on Monday morning, comes after a huge 2018 show from Carrie Underwood, who captivated the Saturday night audience in one of the biggest turnouts in years.

McGraw, who has sold more than 50 million records and dominated the charts with a staggering 43 worldwide number one singles, will make the Muster’s 21st birthday on October 4 and 5 one to mark on the calendar.

“What a great inclusion to help celebrate our 21st milestone,” Ute Muster general manager Vicky Lowry said.

“Like every 21st, plans are under way for all ages to come and party on the plains with friends both old and new on the NSW long weekend in October.”

Muster artist announcements generally haven’t been made until several months before the event, so the big news coming almost a year out from the festival sent its fanbase into meltdown.

McGraw will join a growing list of American artists who have graced the Deniliquin stage, with Underwood, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, Gary Allan, Kelly Clarkson and Suzi Quatro all having headlined the event in the last decade.

In its first year, the Deni Ute Muster had approximately 5000 patrons and set a new Guinness World Record for the greatest number of legally paraded utes at 2839 – a record which still stands today.

The 2018 muster saw almost 18,000 attendees and organisers counted more than 7000 utes around the ground.
