Bring your best country cocktail dress, or a suit with boots for the party that’s all about giving country towns a boost.
The Next Crop end of year dinner will be held in Orange on Saturday, November 24, at the Ex-Services’ Club, from 6.30pm, cocktail attire.
The dinner concludes the forums held throughout the year by Fairfax Agricultural Media publications, The Land and Good Fruit and Vegetables, at eight country towns across the state, including Cooma, Grenfell, Armidale, Griffith, Moree, Cobar, Yass and Lismore.
The forums were all about the gathering of good ideas for revitalising rural communities and businesses.
A highlight of the evening will be the competition for a country town to win the opportunity to work with The Land and behavioural scientist, Allan Parker, to kick off a revitalisation project. This is part of the next step, in taking the initiative from the forums through to actionable steps that can bring change to rural communities.
Only towns represented by those in attendance to the dinner in Orange can enter the competition, says The Land’s editor, Andrew Norris.

“Those keen to get along to the dinner and throw their hat in the ring for their town will need to make sure they have a seat booked by this Thursday,” he said.
The competition, called Target Your Town, will make up part of the evening’s overall program and will be a paper plane throwing contest, with each person (not including staff and their family) having the opportunity of one throw (see terms and conditions here).
The rest of the program includes highlights of the forums, an overview of the revitalisation projects that will be the next step in this initiative, guest speakers Allan Parker and Clive Dixon with a focus on how rural communities can kick-start change at the grass-roots level, plus a three-course meal.
There will also be the opportunity to meet some of The Land’s and Good Fruit and Vegetable’s journalists, as well as senior staff from Fairfax’s Agricultural Media division, and staff members from the businesses who were our sponsors through the forum phase of the project throughout this year.
This includes our gold level sponsors, Statewide Sheds, Local Land Services, NSW Farmers and Dow AgroSciences.
Silver sponsors include Elders and NSW Department of Planning and Environment, and bronze sponsors include Akubra, Kings School, Harbour ISP, Inlon, Ipstar, and the Country Womens’ Association of NSW.
Bookings close at 12.30pm on Thursday, November 15. Click here to go through to our booking site.
