The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Foundation (RASF) has given its support to the highly-respected Nuffield Australia by backing one of the 2019 Nuffield Farming Scholarships.

Nuffield Australia’s farming scholarships aim to support and develop the next generation of Agricultural leaders by investing in research and innovation.

Announced at the Nuffield National Conference Annual Awards Dinner, 17 leading primary producers were awarded Nuffield Farming Scholarships.

Tenterfield’s Thomas Moore was one of the successful recipients.

Supported by the RASF, Mr Moore will now receive a $30,000 bursary to travel the globe conducting vital research into the free-range egg industry.

Mr Moore, an egg producer from the New England region of NSW, passionate about free-range egg sustainability. 

During his travels, Mr Moore will investigate innovative hen housing methods.

He believes this can promote the growth of the Australian free-range egg industry and sustainable farming methods.

RAS Foundation Manager, Cecilia Logan highlights the importance of supporting our leading primary producers.

Ms Logan believes they have a significant role to play in the future of the agricultural industry;

“By supporting Mr Moore in his investigation, we are placing our trust in Australia’s brightest minds,” Ms Logan said.

“These are the minds we believe can lead the way in sustainable agriculture

“The RAS Foundation is proud to support such important research and The Nuffield Scholarship lends itself perfectly to our own mission of building a bright future for regional and rural communities.”
