Mudgee Cup 2018 draw huge crowds | photos, fashion

More than 6000 people turned out to Mudgee racetrack for the annual cup

A massive crowd of close to 6000 were on hand to see Tahsin win his second Mudgee Cup in a row.

The hot weather had crowds seeking shade and revelling in what weather forecasters say is the beginning of a long, hot summer.

The six-year-old bay gelding was ridden by Robbie Dolan and is trained in Warwick Farm by Joseph Pride.

In the fashion stakes Sam Webb from Mudgee was the judges’ selection for the best hat on the day while Elizabeth Golino, also from Mudgee, was named the best dressed lady.

French winemaker, Paul Martung who is now based at Lowes Wines in Mudgee was the standout for the best dressed gent at the annual meeting.

Organisers thanked the huge crowd for being so well behaved.

The Land’s photographer Janian McMillan said it was rare to see so many people in one place, with the festive season kicking off, where everyone simply had a great day.
