THE best presented pen of steers, sponsored by Rural Bank, sold for $1135 today during day two of the Angus grown and weaners sale at the Northern Victoria Livestock Exchange (NVLX).
Offered by John and Sarah Adams and family from Mill Park, Staghorn Flat, Vic, the pen sold through Peter Ruaro-Rodwells and comprised of 74 Angus steers of Dunoon bloodlines that were straight off their mothers and weighed 376 kilograms per head.
They were vaccinated twice with Ultraguard 5-in-1 and Pilliguard and were European Union (EU) eligible.
In total the Adams family sold 132 steers today including; the 74 head of 376kg steers in the top pen at $1135 per head, a pen of 42 head of 327kg steers at $1000 per head and another 16 head of 294kg steers at $970 per head.
On their Mill Park property at Staghorn Flat, Vic, the family run 280 breeders and have been on Dunoon bloodlines for about 10 years now.
John Adams said during October they thought the season would head south quickly but since they have had average to above average rainfall that has “resurrected the season”.
