BRAVING 40 degree heat, 38 young beef enthusiasts took part in the Cootamundra Hereford Heifer Show last weekend.
Victorian competitor Annie Pumpa of Bannockburn had a clean-sweep in the senior division claiming champion parader, herdsperson and junior judge, before being named the grand champion junior judge of the show.
Ms Pumpa’s exhibit, Tondara Novelty 150, received the junior champion heifer sash, while another heifer from the same stall, Tondara Sundown 120, exhibited by Jordan Alexander, was awarded senior and grand champion heifer by judge Ben Davies, Thomas Foods International, South Australia.
Ms Alexander also won senior and overall champion best presented animal. Other best presented winners included; Joe Cahill (junior champion), Northbridge, and Luke Mauger (intermediate champion), Wagga Wagga.
Champion steer went to Glenholme Flash shown by Brooke Doolan, Glenfield, who also received second place in the junior best presented section and junior champion herdsperson along with reserve junior champion parader.
Reserve junior champion heifer was Roselee Pretty Woman P001, exhibited by Emilee Battiste, Tirrannaville, and reserve champion steer was Tara Southwell’s exhibit Roseview Stripe.
Grand champion parader went to intermediate champion Will van Gend, Bathurst, who also exhibited the reserve champion senior heifer Llandillo Corrisande N050, and was reserve intermediate herdsperson.
Other paraders champions included; Rosie Riddoch (junior), Beechworth, Vic, Cassie Bush (reserve intermeidate), Cootamundra, and Connor Evans (reserve senior), The Lagoon.
Nick Alcorn, Harden, won grand champion herdsperson along with most potential breeder and reserve champion junior judge for the senior section.
Champion novice herdsperson went to Jessica Neale, Penrith.
Intermediate champion herdsperson went to Cassie Bush, Cootamundra, and other reserve division champions were Amy Manwaring (junior), Cootamundra, and Helen de Costa, Currawarna.
Edward Maclure, Tarcutta, was named the junior champion for junior judging and the junior most potential breeder. Mim Hopkins, Illabo, followed the same trend being name the intermediate champion for junior judging and the intermediate most potential breeder.
Reserve junior champion junior judge went to Thomas Holt, Urana, and reserve intermediate champion junior judge was Stephanie Davies, Bimbi.
Encouragement awards were given to junior competitor Charlie Tarlington, Bannister, intermediate competitor Alexandra Cahill, Northbridge, and senior competitor Simon de Costa, Braidwood.
