ABOUT 3000 steers and heifers were offered for the second day of the annual Wodonga calf sales on Friday.
The top price for weaner steers was $1165. They were offered by the McCormack family, The Cascades Pastoral Company, Tallangaratta, for weaned steers, which presented in excellent condition. Their 56 Angus steers sold from $1005 to $1165.
J and J Adams, Mill Park, Staghorn Flat, was awarded the best presented pen of steers for their first draft of 74 Angus steers, 376kg. These sold for $1135, or 302c/kg with their 58 other steers making $970 to $1000.
Competition varied from the first day of sales at Wodonga, but the vendors did not miss out with cattle bought by feedlots, local producers, backgrounders from South Australia, NSW, and Victoria, and Tasmania was mentioned in the buyers list too.
The sale was conducted by Wodonga’s independent agents, Rodwell-Peter Rurao Livestock, BUR Livestock and Schubert Boers.
