THE 2019 Gilgandra Sporting Club Gilgandra Cup over 1600 metres has been run and won by the Cheryl Crockett, Mudgee-trained Mackellar’s Love.
The five-year-old brown mare was ridden by the Hawkesbury-based jockey Grant Buckley, who was visiting the Gilgandra track for the first time.
At 82 Lois Foran, from Gilgandra, was delighted to be selected for fashions on the field, let alone receiving the nod from the judges for having the best millinery at the meeting.
Other fashion winners were Marcus Pitomac, from Wellington, and Georgia Horan, from Gilgandra, for the best dressed under 18, while Aaron Watt, from Parramatta, and Jess Faras, from Scone, took home the prizes for the under 35s.
Margaret Windeyer from Gilgandra and Barry Archer, from “Claymore”, Coolabah, were the judge’s selection for the best dressed over 35s.
