Established in 1886 with the motto Ut Prosim, that I may serve, Wenona is an independent girls day and boarding school in North Sydney.
A group of 50 girls from Year 7 to Year 12 call Wenona home throughout the school term, travelling from international as well as rural, regional and remote locations within Australia, to be part of the school’s community of boarders.
Wenona inspires students to become ‘Renaissance women’ - creative, articulate and well-educated, with a sense of humour and a capacity for adventure.
A Renaissance woman is one with a strong moral and ethical outlook, raised to value service and to be a proactive and positive voice within local, national and global communities.
As per the school motto, Wenonians are raised to value service, to lead and to contribute.
Diversity of opportunity is a key focus at Wenona, with students immersed in an education that encompasses academic learning across a curriculum including the arts, STEM, ethics, philosophy, culture and humanities, and physical development.
Beyond the classroom, girls can participate in a range of sports, performing arts, creative arts, debating, clubs and more.
Wenona offers scholarships to assist girls from all backgrounds to benefit from a Wenona education.
As well as academic and music scholarships, there are boarding, foundation and alumnae scholarships available.
Registration for 2020 academic, boarding and music scholarships is available online by Thursday, April 11, 2019, with an exam held at Wenona on Friday, March 1.
Applicants sit the exam and submit a brief resume to give information about their interests, abilities and community involvement.
Foundation and alumnae scholarships may be awarded to students whose families would not otherwise be in a position to provide a Wenona education.
The best way to find out more is to visit the school.
