Applications are now open for bursaries and scholarship to Sydney’s Newington College in 2020.
The college’s scholarship and bursary program offers significant assistance to boys who excel academically, musically, or all-rounders with talents in a range of areas.
Boys based in regional and rural areas are encouraged to apply and are eligible for a 50 per cent discount on boarding fees on top of any scholarship or bursary.
Indigenous bursaries are also available.
Applications for the 2020 program are open until February 4.
Newington College, a founding member of the AAGPS, is located on 10 hectares in Stanmore, in Sydney’s inner west.
It offers the HSC, the International Baccalaureate Programme and vocational education pathways in Years 11 and 12, and boarding for boys in Years 9-12.
Headmaster Michael Parker joined Newington this year, and believes bursaries and scholarships are an important part of the college’s social justice agenda.
“Newington is a fantastic school, and we want as many boys as possible to experience everything it has to offer – a vibrant education in state-of-the-art classrooms, beautiful playing fields and a commitment to help them be the best they can be, whether they are talented pianists, gifted students or great all-rounders,” he said.
“Having boys from a range of backgrounds is a wonderful way for students to appreciate the great things that come from diversity and inclusiveness.”
The boarding house is a short walk to the Years 7-12 campus, where boarders can make the most of Newington’s pool, gym and study and rehearsal spaces.
In their downtime, boarders enjoy rock climbing, pizza and movie nights, trips to the beach and more.
The boarding house is also home to experienced boarding staff who are on-hand to help boys with their studies or any challenges they might be experiencing.
