Despite pockets of rain and recent storms throughout NSW, the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) currently reports that large parts of western and central NSW remain in either drought or intense drought categories of their monitoring area.
Surface water supplies remain critically low for many areas in the region, the nature of the drought event has shifted such that farmers and communities are not just managing reduced primary production but also critically low water reserves.
With this continued lack of moisture, it is no surprise land owners are turning to the groundwater to support their livelihoods, homes, stock and communities.
SPS Solar has backed up the need to utilise this critical resource for their customers with a purpose-built artesian bore testing rig.
“The Bore Boss has the capacity to accurately test bores up to 250m deep,” SPS Solar director, Steve Harding.
“This timing coincides with the Federal and NSW governments $12 million rebates so drought affected livestock farmers can buy and upgrade on-farm water infrastructure.
“This can be used for new purchases and installation of pipes, water storages and water pumps, de-silting dams, and associated power supplies such as generators.
“We can make sure our customers investment is worthwhile based on the water testing we have available with The Bore Boss.”
