The Bedgerabong Centenary Cup has been run and won for the 100th time.
This year the Wallace Bulk Haulage and Western Tree Care Picnic Cup over 1400m saw Narromine based jockey, John “Mabo” Wilson not only return to the saddle after 17 years retirement but also to the winning circle aboard the Justin Stanley, Dubbo trained Wollartant.
To make the 44-year-old jockey’s return an even more memorable one, his last race 17 years ago was the 2002 Bedgerabong Picnic Cup, in which he rode Sports Fair to victory for trainer Mark Ostini.
This year the fashions on the field was a bit of a family affair with Jeffery, Audrey and Tigerlily Hanson from Tumut named Bedgerabong’ s King, Princess and Junior Girl respectively.
Melissa West from Forbes was named this year’s Queen of Bedgerabong while Tara Jane Ireland from Tullibigeal had the best headwear.
