Hereford enthusiasts headed to Adelong for the Pearce family’s 20th annual Yavenvale Herefords on-property where prices peaked at $27,000.
Of 105 bulls offered 78 sold producing an average of $7243.
The top-price of $27,000 was reached for a 18-month-old bull, Yavenvale Nockout N312, purchased by Romolea Poll Herefords, Darby QLD.
The Homozygous polled son of Wirruna Kalimna K326 was in the top one percent of Hereford breedplan for positive rump, Intramuscular fat (IMF) and Grain fed index of $203.
Buyers came from the NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania.
The volume buyers were BN & JM Bell and Sons, Millicent, South Australia who paid to a top of $9000 on two occasions when they put together a draft of nine bulls to average $6389.
The Bell family have been purchasing from Yavenvale for over 15 years.
Sam Bell said we were chasing high IMF and muscle with low birth weight and great growth.
"We were also looking for Homozygous bulls to breed poll calves" Mr Bell said.
