Big classes in the White Suffolk breed were paraded before judge Brayden Gilmore, Baringa studs, Oberon, during the 2019 Royal Canberra Show.
The champion ram, a graduate from the milk-tooth shorn but untrimmed class, was exhibited by Scott and Doug Mitchell, Rene studs, Culcairn.
Mr Gilmore complimented breeders and said it was an extremely good line up of rams for the championship.
“The champion is the sort of ram you like to find as a judge,” he said.
“He has plenty of body and twist and was hard to fault.”
The reserve champion ram was also bred and shown by the Mitchell family, Rene, Culcairn.
When Mr Gilmore was speaking about the lineup for the ewe championship he said the group was one judges' dreamt of.
Such was his admiration, he exclaimed "what a championship lineup" as he began his comments.
He gave the championship to the Mitchell family, Rene, Culcairn while Brett Picker, Rocdell White Suffolks, Bigga exhibited the reserve champion.
The champion ewe had been successful in the milk-tooth shorn and untrimmed class and Mr Gilmore considered she was hard to fault.
“She is a very well balanced sheep without losing any femininity,” he said.
“She has lot’s of meat, a very good twist and for such a long body she stands well."
Mr Gilmore considered the reserve to be no less of a good example of the White Suffolk breed.
"She is a very good type, with a lovely finish," he said.
