Beef and sheepmeat producers in the Monaro region can source tips about improving farm productivity when MLA hosts a workshop at Nimmitabel on March 12.
Courses and presenters include pasture principles (Basil Doonan, Macquarie Franklin), lifting lamb survival (Nathan Scott, Achieve AG Solutions), and making better on-farm investments (Hilary Beech, Holmes Sackett).
Macquarie Franklin Principal consultant Basil Doonan said the aim of the workshop was to equip producers with information and demonstrate the benefits of undertaking further skill development.
“For example, pastures principles is about marrying animal requirements with pasture growth," he said.
"We show beef and sheepmeat producers very clearly how to maximise growth of the highest quality feed and to ensure survival of improved perennials.
“The aim of pasture principles is to provide producers with a set of guiding principles that will allow them to manage confidently regardless of the season, situation or system. The coaching program includes six sessions run over a 12-month period in the field.
“Producers learn to feed budget and are able to make profitable feeding or destocking decisions.”
The free workshop will be held from 9.30am to 3pm at Nimmitabel Country Club.
