WHAT more could a racecourse patron ask for at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
The highly anticipated world's richest two-year-old race - worth $3.5 million, the Golden Slipper Stakes, was the afternoon's pinnacle. That saw world conglomerate racing operation, Godolphin, score first, second and third - being Kiamichi, Microphone, and Lyre respectively, an outstanding achievement for the "blue brigade", the colours worn world-wide for the powerful stable.
However, it appeared to be a Winx afternoon, the mighty mare taking centre stage, the massive crowd cheering and clapping her even before she went on to complete her 32nd successive victory.
The atmosphere was electric with the blue and white Winx flags waving as enthusiasts crammed to get vantage spots lifting their mobile phones to capture their "magic moments" with the world's greatest racehorse as it headed to compete in the Rosehill Guineas.
On returning to scale after her fourth George Ryder Stakes win, Winx - along with her regular jockey Hugh Bowman, stood still in front of the packed grandstand to a standing ovation of cheering with not a dry eye left in the house.
That pause in salute of her mammoth racecourse efforts, will be etched forever in the minds of the crowd, that run to be her last on her home track.
Winx is due to have her final career start at Royal Randwick on April 13.
