Greg Good of Bowen stud, Millthrope said he was "over-the-moon" with his results in the Suffolk judging at the Sydney Royal Show.
Bowen presented both grand champion Suffolk ram and ewe at the Sydney Royal Show. The two sheep both winning their milk teeth classes.
Kevin and Donna White of Kurrali Suffolks, Neilrex, were just behind, taking out both the reserve grand champion ram and ewe in their first showing at Sydney in years. Their sheep came second to Bowen in the milk teeth only class.
Judge Josh Milton of Milton Park Suffolks, Allora, Queensland said he liked to see the younger sheep because they were showing what the future in the industry looked like.
Bowen stud won eight of the 10 classes it entered this year, including groups, but 17-year-old Reece Webster of Lindean Suffolks was able to beat them in both the Timor Trophy for a milk tooth ram shorn no more than seven days prior to judging and in the ewe with milk tooth, not exceeding 12 millimetres class.
