BRAIDWOOD Central School's Monkittee stud may have been the only Texel breed exhibitor at Sydney Royal Show but their 12 head display impressed the judge, Peter Shepherd, Wheeo, Crookwell.

He's just a complete ram allover. - Peter Shepherd

The school's head agriculture teacher, Mick Wall, said the stud was established 15 years ago and named after the Monkittee Creek which runs through the school grounds.

Grand champion ram and winner of the under two-years class, was a 20-month-old two-tooth sired by the 2015 Adelaide Royal Show champion from Glenarbian stud of Barbara and Ian Nitschke, Millicent, South Australia.

The ram's dam was a homebred daughter of a Cranbrook stud ram.

Mr Shepherd said the ram was very good and well muscled.

"He shows a lot of promise in his sires stakes as he's just a complete ram all over."

Speaking of the reserve grand champion selected from the winning pair of rams, Mr Shepherd said the ram had a good future.

"He's got everything there that's right, good muscling for a young ram. His features are good and he's got a good head, He'll do well in the future."

Monkittee's grand champion ewe and shorn milk-teeth class winner, was also sired by the Glenarbian ram.

Mr Shepherd said the grand champion was a good style of sheep.

"She has good muscling all the way through and a good head. As a breeding ewe she will be excellent. There's a mix of a little bit of the old style about her, plus a bit of the new style.

"Her length is good. I don't like ewes too long, but I don't like them too short neither, but she's just an all-round good young sheep."
