THE dairy cattle judging kicked off today at the Sydney Royal Show with the All Breeds Youth Competition that was won by Georgia Herne's Ayrshire exhibit from Jasper's Brush.
Mayfield Farms Vickis Showcase was the champion heifer, sired by De La Plaine Vicking from Mayfield Farms Potter Showcase, that impressed judge Dairy Livestock Services' dairy specialist Stuart Lockhart, Terara near Nowra.
Bred by Paul and Vicki Timbs, the 14-month-old female was described by Mr Lockhart as the most balanced and stylish female he had seen in a while.
Reserve champion heifer went to Shirlinn Joel Melys 2 exhibited by Mitchell Atkins, and bred by Brian and Vicki Wilson and family, Tamworth.
By Guimo Joel and from Shirlinn Reagan Melys, the two-year-old female was said to have a lot of balance width throughout, especially through the hips and pins.
The Jersey Rising Star class was won by Winvarl Vanahlem Mabel exhibited by Katelyn Atkins.

- Heifer six to nine months - Panorama Blossom 2 exhibited by Lily Gavenlock
- Heifer nine to 12 months - Mayfield Farms Vickis Showcase exhibited by Georgia Herne
- Heifer 12 to 16 months - Shirlinn Tequila Mary exhibited Ella Wilson
- Heifer 16 to 20 months - Shirlinn Joel Rumour exhibited by Chelsea Atkins
- Heifer 20 to 24 months - Shirlinn Joel Melys 2 exhibited by Mitchell Atkins
The main breed judging of the six dairy cattle breeds at the Sydney Royal Show is scheduled to kick off at 12pm today.
