A bale of 19.3 micron Merino wool sold for 2000c/kg greasy last Wednesday with all funds going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association of NSW.
The O'Connor family, Oxton Park, Harden, offered their bale of wool to the worthy cause, which brought an impressive price tag 400-500c/kg above market price at the recent Sydney wool sale through Elders agents.
The bale was purchased by wool-buyers G.Schneider who were represented on the day by Tim Marwedel and Sean Tobe of Motohiro.
The wool sale coincided with fundraising efforts by Young's Josh Clayton who recently set out to break the World Sheep Shearing Record at the Oxton Park wool shed.
While he fell 14 short of the record with 452 sheep shorn, Mr Clayton wanted to bring awareness and raise as many funds as possible for Motor Neurone Disease.
It was during his training for the world record that his partner Haley and mother of their daughter, Stella, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
She passed away in October last year with Mr Clayton leading a fundraising pledge to assist other families going through the disease.
