Prime Minister Scott Morrison was egged when attending the Country Women's Association of NSW state conference in Albury this morning with a 70-year-old woman knocked over in the scuffle.
The egg appeared to bounce off the Prime Minister's head, and was later found intact, and bodyguards quickly restrained a young woman.
CWA president, Annette Turner stated they were disappointed this occurred when Prime Minister was at the conference and confirmed the protester was not one of their members.
"We do not condone this form of protest and are unhappy this individual used our conference as a platform to air their grievances," Ms Turner said.
"The member who was knocked over during the incident is shaken, but she is okay."
CWA member, Gail Whelan of the Bermagui branch, was next to the Prime Minister when the incident occurred. She said she was shocked and horrified that it happened at the conference and the behaviour went against everything the CWA stands for.
Mr Morrison was visiting the Farrer electorate in the Riverina, Southern NSW, to campaign with Liberal MP Sussan Ley.
Mr Morrison has tweeted his concerns for the woman who was knocked off her feet.
"I helped her up and gave her a hug," he said.
"Our farmers have to put up with these same idiots who are invading their farms and their homes."
NSW Police have stated a 24-year-old woman was charged with common assault following the incident.
The Victorian woman was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Albury Local Court on 27 May 2019.
