Sprys Extra Special N61 kicked-off his show grand championship career as a yearling at Adelaide Royal last year, then reserve at Melbourne Royal but took out the grand accolade at Sydney Royal - and now the Shorthorn National at Dubbo.
Shown in partnership by David and Marion Spencer, Spencer Family stud, soon to move to Rutherglen, Victoria, with Gerald and Lynden Spry, Spry Shorthorns, Holbrook, Extra Special had earlier won the division three championship. As The Land went to print he sold at auction for $44,000 to Outback Shorthorns, Culcairn.
Other division champions among the 117 bulls included Kamilaroi Turvey from Calrossy Anglican School, Tamworth, division one, Tarraganda TG Night Rider, David and Christine Morris, Young, division two and Polldale Neat, Kim and Elizabeth Williams, Dubbo. Thirteen stud females sold after the show to a top of $7000 and averaged $4462 with two for the McGrath Foundation grossing $6500.
