FOR landholders that live away from their farm, balance outside work with farming or are new to owning land, there may be additional challenges to ensuring you're meeting the demands of managing a property.
Local Land Services has established the Smaller Smarter Farms program to help those landholders in meeting these challenges.
The aim of the program is to assist new landholders, landholders that live away from the farm and landholders whose primary source of income isn't derived from the property, to meet the demands of owning a property.
The program consists of sessions conducted across the region that cover topics such as livestock management, natural resources management and biosecurity.
Local Land Services will be bringing a Smaller Smarter Farms feature to the Livestock Talk Tent and Livestock demonstrations at this years event, to help provide some information to those landholders that are attending.
There will be presentations from Land Services Officers in the Talk Tent, with an array of livestock information and resources available, as well as practical sessions in the demonstration area.
The practical sessions will include handling of sheep and cattle in a yard setting, which will be facilitated by Senior Land Services Officer Brett Littler.
