SAVING water in a time of drought will be the focus of a field day near Condobolin on Friday hosted by Darling Irrigation and Ag n Vet Services.
The property "Newlands", at Fairholme, was bought two years ago and the way it is irrigated has since changed dramatically.
Acting as a consultant, Darling Irrigation has overseen a transformation from 325 hectares of gravity fed flood irrigation bays to 250 hectares under centre pivot, including new areas that have never before been irrigated.
Drawing from bores there are currently five large pivots operating, with another soon to be added, servicing corn, lucerne and sorghum.
Darling Irrigation's design and project manager Kyle Wells said water use had decreased significantly.
The field day kicks off at 10.30am and will finish about 3pm.
A free barbecue lunch will be provided.
