June was a big month for beef cattle breed societies, four of which conducted their annual National Show and Sale promotions.
Tom and Lizzy Baker, Woonallee Simmentals, Furner, SA, paid $40,000 top price for the reserve junior champ[ion Simmental bull, Mt Ararat Phoenix, bred by John Leek, Mt Ararat stud, Nar Nar Goon, Vic, and held by Mark Alberni, with Landmarks Joel Fleming, Tamworth.
First was Herefords Australia that held it's 58th annual fixture resulting in 28 bulls selling to a top of $30,000 and averaging $8321.
Then followed the Shorthorn breed's 60th anniversary with results of 54 bulls selling to $44,000 and averaging $6741 and 13 stud females to $7000, averaging $4462.
The Red Angus and Simmental breeds combined resources for their Nationals with 14 Red Angus bulls making to $10,000 twice to average $5571.
Simmentals sold well with 11 to $40,000 to average $12,090 and eight stud females to $8000, averaging $4875.
