ONLY 385 head were yarded at Dubbo's store cattle sale last Friday where prices reached a top of $1120/unit for one of three pens of cows with calves.
Weaner cattle represented majority of the yarding however prices were mostly in line with the prime market.
Steer weaners topped at $745 a head for a pen of 17 Angus/Santa-cross steers from Peter and Marilyn Hickey, Molong.
Steers sold from $245 for very young Angus calves and averaged $380/hd for the category.
The Hickey family's heifer portion topped its respective category, selling for a top of $535/hd.
Heifer weaners sold from $215 for and averaged $332.
There were few pens of cows on offer. A single pen of Angus cows with large Speckle Park-cross calves at foot sold for the top of $1120/unit.
Two pens of good framed Hereford cows in store condition sold for $700 and $855 while a pen of dry crossbred cows sold for $610/head.
