The 2019 Upper Murray Beef Producers Competition instigated by the Jingellic and District Pastoral Agricultural and Horticultural Society was conducted over two days, 24 and 25 June to much acclaim.
The competition was designed to promote profitable, ethically managed and efficient beef production in the Upper Murray.
There were 22 entries from 17 herds entered in the two category's: ten in the commercial unjoined heifers up to 15 months of age and 12 in the commercial heifers PTIC and up to two years of age.
Society president Mary Hoodless said the judges Gerald Spry, Sprys Shorthorn and Angus, Wagga Wagga and Lincoln Mckinlay, Glasser Total Sales and Management, Staghorn Flat, Victoria were very impressed with the terrific standard of all cattle entered.
"They were also overwhelmed by the quality of the pastures," Mrs Hoodless said.
The judges assessed each entry against the checklist of criteria and the stated objectives and goals of the producers.
The heifers were presented in paddock condition and in their home yards.
Entries were judged on their alignment to each producers' market and breeding goals, conformation, growth for age and temperament.
