Team Handypiece has returned from promoting the product at the Royal Highland Show in Scotland.

Dave and Jacky Short from Feilding, New Zealand, call it "Handypiece adventures - a juggle of business, farm and family".

According to a company spokesman, the Handypiece is the Rolls-Royce version of portable shearing and tail trimming equipment, and still available at a reasonable price.

"Anyone looking for a field days special this year, should ask themselves some questions," the spokesman said.

"Do they want a portable sheep shearing/tail trimmer that is:

  • designed and made in New Zealand;
  • solid and durable;
  • slim to hold;
  • reliable and robust
  • easy to care for
  • long life lithium battery
  • traditional hand piece, using standard comb and cutters
  • helpline and support staff are Kiwis.

"The main benefit of the Handypiece is that you can work anywhere at any time and has a multitude of uses," he said.

"There is no mains power required, but it makes no compromises on quality or useability.

"Farmers of all abilities are able to keep on top of those dirty jobs resulting in better animal health and all round farming efficiency.

"The Handypiece Pro has the added feature of variable speed from 2400 - 3500rpm.

"The Handypiece Pro boasts 1.3Nm of torque and only has a weight of 1.4 kilograms.

"Dagging, crutching and trimming cows tails operate well at a mid-speed of 2700 rpm.

"While anyone wanting to get a nice cut while shearing can wind it all of the way up to 3500rpm.

"Now alpaca shearers can use a traditional handpiece that is slim to hold. but now with the speed that they can reduce to the same as a clipper. The new motor now means the battery lasts even longer as it is possible to crutch up to 300 to 400 sheep from one charge.

"For the field days, the kit also comes with two Lithium batteries, battery charger, belt, holster and pouch - all made from heavy duty leather.

"Included is also a five metre extension cord, completed with a purposely designed carry kit bag.

"It is possible to see several video clips of the Handypiece on our website.

"See the Handypiece Pro at AgQuip on the Shearing Supplies NSW site."
