"It was tough day even for Angus cattle" was how beef producer Glen Duff summed up Kempsey Stock and Land's bull and female sale.
"Rain is the only thing that will fix it," Mr Duff said.
There were 100 bulls on offer at the sale, which saw 60 per cent clearance, including 408 Noble N8 that topped the sale at $5600, which was bred by Greg Hughes from 408 Angus and sold to Tom Peterkin from Macksville.
Mr Hughes also sold bulls for $5200 and $5000 that went locally.
Deluxe, a 33-month-old Brahman bull who won the supreme exhibit at Kempsey Show and best breed of class at Wauchope, went under the hammer for $3000.
The Brahman bull, bred by Mr Duff of Riverview Brahmans at Warbrow Creek west of Kempsey, was sold to Darren and Bec Sutherland of Belmore River.
Ash Gardiner from Banarra Brahmans Krambach sold the top female for $2800.
Ian McGoldrick from Kempsey Stock and Land said it was a tough sale that reflected the current dry conditions with bulls average $3360.
