Glenavon Angus conducted its 35th annual bull sale at Guyra on Monday, selling 89 of 114 Angus bulls under the hammer for a 78 per cent clearance, averaging $4719 with two bulls selling to the top price of $9000.
A further five bulls sold after the hammer pushing the clearance to 82 per cent.
The first bull to make $9000 was 24-month-old Glenavon N084 by Booroomooka Bartel K274 and out of Glenavon G149, weighing 930 kilograms with a scrotal of 43 centimeters, purchased by John and Lennox Waugh, Rangers Valley, Nundle for his low birth weight and high growth figures.
This is the second year Culgai has purchased from the sale and they have been impressed by the performance of the last lot of bulls purchased.
The second bull to make $9000 was 14-month-old Glenavon P115 by Wattletop Franklin G188 and out of Glenavon J185, weighing 532kg, purchased by TP and CJ Amey of Casino.
One bulk buyer of the day was Duncan Geddes of Telemon Springsure Queensland, who purchased a total of six bulls for an average $5666 and top of $8500.
The Geddes family have been purchasing from Glenavon for over 30 years and returned again to put together a draft of bulls.
The second bulk buyer of the day was Phil Lindeman, Yarragrin Mendooran, who purchased a total of six bulls for an average $4416 and top of $6000.
Purchasing four bulls on the day was Eddie Billing, Bridgewater, Yetman and grandson Hayden Stehr, Booryana, Boggabilla Mr Billing has been purchasing bulls from Glenavon since the sales began. He loves the performance of the bulls and was proud to take more Glenavon bulls home to continue the lines.
