With 100,000 people expected through the gates the herd of breed societies, community organisations and volunteers fight for the coveted title of most popular AgQuip steak sandwich.
This year competition has been fierce, not only from traditional players but also up and comers with their fancy promises of Mediterranean street food, and polenta chips.
While the average punter may have been lured to the exotic world of fast food your trusty Land reporters have stayed loyal to the beef.
The Land deputy editor Dan Pedersen said you couldn't go past a Droughtmaster, but we suspect that could have been influenced by proximity to The Land stand.
His special tip was to double-down with a two steak special at $11 and while he did not partake in the generous amounts of fried onion served by the Boggabri Golf Club volunteers, we did hear they spent the weekend cutting 25 kilograms of the pungent bulbs only to run short as the lunch crowd waned on day two.
But they were back cutting again on Wednesday night ready for Thursday.

Another vote in favour of the Droughie was due to the availability of white pepper to add that extra zing.
The Land has also heard strong reports in favour of the Charolais steak which came in at $10 and got two thumbs up.
Other firm favourites among The Land staff included, in no particular order, Angus, Murray Grey, Shorthorns, and Santa Gertrudis.
