Cameron Schultz operates a 600 hectare cropping and sheep property at Culcairn and have fed more than 1800 bales of roto cut silage, cereal and straw hay bales since purchasing their new McIntosh Multi bale feeder this season.
"We were looking for a better way to feed out our fodder and reduce wastage," Mr Schultz said.
"We had been placing the bales into feed rings or rolling them out and could lose up to 20 percent this way.
"Before farming I was a boiler maker and when I first saw the McIntosh Bale Feeder, I was instantly impressed with the strength, construction and build quality.
"I saw having the ability to carry up to four bales would save me heaps of time as we travel some distance to feed our herds.
"We arranged a demonstration and after feeding just a few bales out, I knew the machine was not leaving the farm.
"When feeding our mobs the old way, it would take all day but with the Multi bale feeder and a little help, I can now get it done before lunch.
"The feeder allows us to feed the fodder out in a narrow and consistent row.
"This means the sheep don't waste anything and they all get the chance to feed on the fodder.
"Our mobs just look so much better and have better weight gains from our lambs.
"Now since starting our shearing season we have also found far less contamination of the wool from fodder, especially around the neck."
