A 17-month-old Fleckvieh heifer from Dubbo-based stud Daraabah was snapped up for a Pearla $7500 price tag during the Focus on Fleckvieh online sale on Friday.
Offered by Bruce and Melinda McColl, Daraabah Pearla topped the inaugural sale when she was secured by Queensland buyer Neil Gibbs of Coalstoun Lakes.
By Brenair Park Lemair L142 and out of Daraabah Jemma, the unjoined heifer weighed 584 kilograms at the beginning of the month.
In August this year, Pearla was crowned reserve champion Fleckvieh cow or heifer at the Royal Queensland Show and was described by her owners as "an absolute stunner with a commanding presence".
Mr Gibbs, who operates the NicNeil Brahman stud, hadn't seen the young heifer in real life but was impressed with her online photos and videos.
He said the purchase was the start of a new hobby and was interested in experimenting with the Fleckvieh breed.
"I've always liked them," he said.
"We used to have Simmentals years ago and they are very similar."
He had budgeted $10,000 towards purchases at the sale but when his other pick, Daraabah Pearl, generated further bids, he decided to pool his funds into securing Pearla instead.
Both the McColls and their daughter, Maddie, of Glenanna stud had a successful sale.
They sold eight of 11 heifers for a $3187 average.
In total, 12 of 50 heifers sold for a $3041 average while three of 42 bulls sold to average $3500 and top at $4000 for Daraabah Paxapunch.
The young show bull was by Daraabah Kiksum and out of Wondenia Goldstar and weighed 734 kilograms at 17 months.
The sale was conducted on AuctionsPlus through Elders.
