Warialda-based Angus breeders Ben and Wendy Mayne 'steaked' their claim in the RAS Beef Challenge yet again, securing four of the eight championships on offer during the awards presentation in Tamworth on Friday night.
The couple, who operate Texas Angus, dominated the 100-day export competition, winning both the champion and reserve team awards and also individual champion, behind the Brown family in reserve with Angus cattle.
They were also named reserve champion of the 70-day domestic individual, behind the champions from Upper Hunter based Mala-Daki Simmentals.
It followed their strong performance in the live judging at Wilga Feedlot, Bellata, where they won both the export class teams awards and individual award.
They also had the highest average daily weight gain for a domestic pen at 2.392kg/day and were second for the export pens with 2.352kg/day.
Further results in the 70-day domestic competition judging saw the champion team awarded to Guy and Suzanne Lord, Branga Plains, Walcha, with Yulgilbar Santa Gertrudis at Baryulgil in reserve champion.
The champion export taste test carcase was awarded to Ambrose and Lisa Doolin, Ulamambri, with their Angus cattle.
