Five studs sold 96 rams of 116 offered for an average of $1904 and gross of $182,750 at the 2019 Eastern Riverina Poll Merino Ram Sale.
Meadow View Poll Merino, Henty sold the top ram of the sale to Joanne and Peter Rayner of Alma Park for $4750.
The ram was one of 41 Meadow View sold from 45 offered for an average of $2256.
Meadow View stud principal, Simon Bahr said the sale-topper was an AI son of Poll Boonoke 150026, his genetics making him stand out in the line up.
"He's a good productive type, typical of that Poll Boonoke," Mr Bahr said.
"He has good figures, with a lot of wool on him, big, long, bright staples and excellent definition."
The ram had a fibre diameter of 17.4, standard deviation of 3.2, comfort value of 99.9 per cent, eye muscle depth of 42, fat score of 5.5 and birth weight of 98.
His purchaser, Peter Rayner said the ram was one picked out by their wool classer Rex Bennett.
"He had a lot of wool, a nice square body, wasn't too big," Mr Rayner said.
The Rayners also purchased one of the top-priced rams offered by first-time vendors at the sale, Old Cobran Poll Merino, Mullengandra.
The stud's first lot sold to the Rayners for $2500, a price matched a couple of rams down the list by DJ & SL Godde of Ponderosa, Culcairn.
The sales put the stud on track to sell 13 of 15 rams offered for an average of $1615.
Old Cobran stud principal, Matt Martin said they were wrapped with the results from their first Eastern Riverina sale.
"These rams are all bred from this area for this area, I think our sheep fit in well for what the area asks for," Mr Martin said.
"We're dual-purpose driven so we aim for good carcase, good growth but still having those well-nourished, free-growing wools that do not require mulesing."
Valley Vista Poll Merino, Culcairn had the second-largest draft, selling 29 of their 34 rams that went under the hammer for an average of $1767.
Their first lot was the top-priced ram, purchased for $3250 by DH and MP MacReadie, Henty.
It was Valley Vista's 29th year taking part in the Eastern Riverina Poll Merino Sale.
The Culcairn stud was followed by Hurlstone Park Polls, Mulwala, who in their second year at the sale offered ten rams all by HP 16-0602, a sire that goes back to Coddington Uardry bloodlines.
They sold seven rams to an average of $1286 and top of $2000.
The proceeds from Lot 54, the top-priced ram, were donated by the stud to the family of Gerard Martin who recently passed away and had chosen the ram as his pick. The ram was purchased by Geoff McCall, Corowa.
Tumblong stud, Karoola Downs Poll Merino sold six of 12 May-June drop rams to a top of $2750 and average of $1500.
