Highly sought after first drop of Rennylea Kodak K522 sons to be offered by Hardhat attracted keen interest during their on-property bull sale in Harden on Thursday which peaked at $10,000.
Brad and Jess along with Malcolm and Alana Cavanagh sold 22 of their 28 two year old bulls under hammer to average $5364 following the support of 24 registered bidders on the day.
The top price bull was the first of the Rennylea Kodak K522 sons to be offered on the day and was purchased by Boonaroo Angus, Casterton, Victoria.
Two year old, Hardhat Nebraska N43 weighed in at 766 kilograms and sat in the top one percent in the mid-August 2019 Angus Australia Breedplan for all indexes.
Aaron Seaman auctioneer from Aaron Seaman's Strategic Livestock Marketing described the bull as a real curve bender with huge scrotal data.
He had estimated breed values (EBV's) of +3.4 for birth weight, +64 for 200- day weight, +112 for 400-day weight, +3.4 for eye muscle area (EMA), and intramuscular fat (IMF) of +2.2.
Three bulls hit the equal second top money of $8,000.
The first of the $8,000 bulls was Hardhat Ren Nationwide N88 purchased by Sam Davidson, and was the first of the SAV Renown 3439 sons on offer.
Sykes Pastoral Co, Humula, matched the second top money of $8,000 for Hardhat Nikon N87.
While Tumbleton Partnership, Wallendbeen, was the third to match the second top money for their new sire in Hardhat Napoleon N56.
The sale was settled by Elders with Aaron Seaman tallying the bids.
