THE $5500 sale-topper of the 15th annual Normanhurst Border Leicester on-property sale at Boorowa yesterday is destined for South Australia.
Normanhurst Thumper was the high-seller snapped up by Tim Woodham of Landmark Wagga Wagga on behalf of Tom Munro of Taronga Park Border Leicester stud, South Australia.
The son of Glen Corrie 25/16, who was the Glen Corrie top-priced sale ram in 2017, was described by auctioneer Rick Power, Landmark, as "an outstanding sire that doesn't normally hit the market".
Normanhurst stud co-principal Ashley Corkhill said they were very proud to offer a ram of this calibre.
"The Glen Corrie sire has work well within our flock with this ram a good representation," he said.
"He has a post weaning weight of 9.8."
The top-priced ram had an outstanding show season in 2019, consistently placing first in class and claiming a lot of broad ribbons along the way, as well as receiving third in the objective measurement class at Sydney Royal.
The Normanhurst offering was well presented and well received by everyone in attendance, with 65 rams sold of the 80 on offer for a 81 per cent clearance and $1200 average. .
AG. and TM. O'Brien, Crookwell, were the major volume buyers who purchased 13 rams for a $1076 average.
Others included JFM Livestock who bought eight, JW. Kelly of Boroowa purchased six, Rojawhnah, Cowra, bought six and RJ. Haine of Cooma bought three for a $1333 average.
Mr Corkhill said they were very happy and pleased with the sale given the conditions.
"There was a lot of loyal, local support ... and new clients ... all who are very pleased with what they purchased," he said.
The Corkhill family wish to thank their clients for continual support.
Landmark and Elders conducted the sale with Rick Power (Landmark) and Steve Ridley (Elders) sharing the auctioneer duties.
