Getting off the farm for a night was made a little easier for farming families who attended a cocktail and cowboy themed dinner at the Yass Soldiers Club on Friday.
"There are not many events that cater for families," said organiser Carolina Merriman, Yass.
She said the venue had baby sitters and kids activities to give parents a break and was attended by about 130 guests from around the Yass area of mainly farmers and their families, as well as local service providers.
Ms Merriman said a lot of people didn't realise how necessary it was to get away from the farm.
"They don't regard it as important until they get out with friends," she said.
The evening was made possible with support from NSW Farmers and a grant from Primary Health Network and included entertainment by guest author and entertainer, Murray Hartin, and local comedian and magician, Bill Nesbitt.
Ms Merriman encouraged others to also apply for funding from PHN to assist in holding their own events.
