Limousin females had a near clean sweep of the led heifer section at the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza yesterday, taking out the overall top title and winning nearly all classes along the way.
Oakwood Cut Tha Tearz was the 13-month-old black Limousin heifer exhibited by the Berdihold Limousin stud, Oswald, that won over judge Claudia Neilsen, WA, with soundness and completeness.
She was sired by Richmond Crusader SRD 53C and out of Oakwood Native Cutt.
Winning one of the strongest classes of the day (the first heat of the 12 months and under 16 months age bracket) before taking out the championship sash, it was no surprise that the heifer that came second to her in class was awarded reserve champion overall.
Reserve champion heifer went to DSK TGL Quoin P70E from the DSK Angus and Charolais stud, Coonabarabran.
A slightly younger heifer at 12 months, she was sired by Temana Golden Logie G66E and from DSK AC Quoin G78E.
Going for moderate females that are structurally correct, soft and easy doing, Ms Neilsen said the two heifers on top didn't give up structural integrity.
"They are sound structured, and sound on their feet and legs. They track well and they also have muscle," she said.
Other class winners included;
- Eight months and under 12 months class winner: Kloud Queen Bee, a Limousin exhibited by Kate Loudon, Dubbo
- Winner of the second heat of 12 months and under 16 months: Lachlandale Azalea, a Limousin exhibited by Rightime Farms,
- 16 months and under 20 months winner:: Three Way Gracelands P2, a Speckle Park exhibited by Three Way Speckle Parks
