Numbers increased to 400 head and the market increased as well on the previous fortnightly store cattle sales at Tamworth with heifers accounting for almost half the offering.
Pitt Sons Walcha agent, Stuart Bell, said the market was dearer than a fortnight before and cows with calves sold particularly well.
Top cow/calf price of $1150 a unit was paid for first and second calver Angus from the Luso family, with 49 units averaging $790. The sale top a fortnight ago was $1040.
The large offering of heifers sold to a top of $525 for Angus offered on behalf of the Adams family, Bingara.
European Union (EU) Angus heifer weaners, five to six months of age sold on account Gaudron family, made $410 each while another lot of Angus weaners, four to eight months, made $460 for the Morgan family, while a pen of Charolais made $390 each.
The heifer drafts totalling 230 head averaged $350 a head.
Charolais steers topped the sale at $710, an increase on last fortnight's top-price money of $25 a head. The steer draft of 129 head averaged $390.
EU accredited autumn-drop Angus steer weaners, five to six months, made $465 a head for the Guadron family.
Milk-tooth steers sold for the Adams family made $595 a head while Angus steers sold on account Rifa Salutary, made $695.
